Wrapped around your little finger?

Wrapped around your little finger?

All Frenchie-owned people know how tightly wound their respective Frenchie has them wrapped up, but a photo shows the work of a true genius Frenchie.

(Linked image was posted here, but you’ll need to go to this link, scroll down the page. It’s about 5th from the bottom. You’ll know it when you see it. :-) )

Photo comes from the site Izismile.com. Check out the whole June 8th blog entry for some other interesting, but non-Frenchie, tattoos.

There’s an app for that

iPhone toting, Frenchie-owned folks probably know this, but for .99¢ you can download a French Bulldog app called Cute French Bulldogs for your iPhone. What does it do? It’s a collection of French Bulldog photos to use as wallpaper, links to French Bulldog YouTube videos, and promises the latest Frenchie celebrity gossip and news delivered to your phone. They even offer a contest for your personal photos to win the chance to be the latest wallpaper image. Fancy that. People walking around with the image of your French Bulldog.

What else pulls up in an app search? There is French Bulldog Slide Puzzle. A puzzle with the goal to slide the photo pieces back into place to complete the image of the Frenchie.

Don’t miss the French Bulldog Snow Globe app. Virtual snow drifts over the image of a French Bulldog. (Probably best enjoyed with a cup of hot chocolate.)

A search for other phone apps, isn’t as fruitful. No Blackberry apps. No Droid apps. Searches for both phones only found apps concentrated on teaching French, or dealing with organized sports, but not showcasing our beloved canine. Not even Frenchie-based themes exist. (Hint, hint app developers!) At least Droid owners can console themselves with a game of Super Froggy.

Of course one of the most important French Bulldog apps can be found at the sites below. An application to be owned by one!

Knitting your Frenchie

Frenchies are cute, cuddly, and woolly??

Get out your needles and remember how to knit and purl, or just have fun checking out an unusual slant to a time-honored craft – Knitting AND French Bulldogs!

Knit and wear a French Bulldog sweater. Visit this blog to see a sample worked up and get links to the pattern. Portraits of Dogs in Knitting

Or, if your Japanese is good, crochet and play with a French Bulldog toy. Click on the image or link below and scroll down the page to see images from inside the book. If you are an excellent crocheter, you might be able to just go by the diagrams.

Japanese Crochet book

The book is also available on Amazon, the Japanese version.

If you want to get really, really crazy, knit using your Frenchie’s fur as the yarn. Knitting with dog fur experienced a surge during WWII when knitting materials were scarce and continues today as a hobby. Page through the book Knitting with Dog Hair. They do warn Frenchies provide a “poor harvest.” Maybe aim for a scarf and not a sweater…

Don’t have a spinning wheel? Pay someone to spin that hair into yarn. Search for “spinning dog hair” and you will get several hits.

While no French Bulldog garments are represented, you might enjoy seeing some final dog yarn products.

Hum…makes one look a little differently at those fur balls under, and on, the couch.

A double-take magazine cover

Upon rifling through the mail the other day, pulled out a magazine. First response, “That’s a Frenchie on the cover! A really nice one, too!” Upon closer examination, “Hey, it’s the AKC Gazette, but not the same Gazette we’ve been getting.”

After digging into the publication to see what’s going on, seems the AKC Gazette has redesigned it’s look and layout starting with the April 2010 issue. Very fresh, light, and modern. A cream Frenchie was chosen to grace the cover of the new look’s launch. A “smart” looking image indeed.

The cover image was taken by Carol Beuchat, who is also the photographer and 1st place winner of the AKC Publications Photo Contest. Her winning photo subject: Lola, another French Bulldog winner. (Perhaps you’ve heard of her? ;-) )

You can see the new cover and learn more about the AKC Gazette here.

Read the full magazine, and see and learn more about the winning images online.
Digital AKC Gazette

Kudos to Ms. Beuchat, and to the staff of the AKC Gazette, for both the fresh redesign and their excellent taste in cover subject matter!
