Magic is missing! (Texas Frenchie)

We just learned a Texas show Frenchie has gone AWOL. Her name is Magic and her co-owners are desperately trying to locate her or her whereabouts.

Magic is a 2-year-old black brindle girl with a white chest, about 22 pounds. She has her AKC championship and has been living with one of her co-owners, Ann Stroud, a long-time dog lover, breeder, and show person in the Panhandle area of Texas.

"Magic," missing French Bulldog girl last seen in the Texas Panhandle area.

Ann, unfortunately, was very ill and passed away July 2. She, or someone taking care of her, must have realized Magic needed more attention than Ann could currently provide and sent Magic off to stay with friends or family. As is usual, in the confusion of illness and family matters, the info of where Magic went didn’t get relayed to her other co-owners, and so far, no one in Ann’s family seems to know where or who Magic might be with. There is the worry whoever she is with may not even realize she has other owners trying to find her. Just knowing if Magic is safe would be a big relief.

Magic. Her owners are looking for her! Have you seen her?

If you live in West Texas or the Texas Panhandle (Amarillo, Lubbock, and surrounding areas) be on the lookout for a brindle Frenchie girl. Her worried co-owner, Twinkey Moore, says she is lightly brindled, loves to be close to her person, makes a high-pitched wheeze when she sleeps, and doesn’t care much for toys. Magic is microchipped and registered with the Companion Animal Recovery. She has already been reported lost to CAR.

If you have information about Magic, or think you’ve seen her, please e-mail her co-owner Twinkey Moore at tntmals@aol.com or give her a call at (806) 622-1379 or (902) 622-3333. You can check for any late-breaking details at her website Twin Key French Bulldogs. Also check for story updates at FrogDog Blog.

We had the pleasure of seeing Magic in the dog show ring a few times while her co-owners, Ann and Twinkey, proudly watched ringside. Our condolences to Ann’s family on their loss of a relative and to her dog show family on the loss of a dear friend and co-owner/breeder. Let’s hope all the news postings and blog entries brings Magic back and eases a difficult time for all involved.

Paws on Demand. (Just watching donates a buck!)

Thanks to cable and satellite companies, you have Movies on Demand, Primetime on Demand, and now…pets on demand! That’s right. Use your remote control to surf out available pets. It’s a new slant on home shopping where potential new owners shopping for pets, view pets shopping for new homes!

This on-demand feature has just been added to the Austin Time Warner Cable lineup. They have teamed up with the Austin Humane Society to offer short video clips of adoptable pets on channel 1400. Tune to channel 200 in Waco/Temple/Killeen.

First look for “Community,” then “Paws on Demand.” A list of dogs and cats available for adoption will appear, which you can click through and view at your leisure. The videos are short and shows the personality of each dog or cat.

During the month of July, Time Warner Cable will DONATE A BUCK each time a video is viewed, up to $3,000. So even if you can’t adopt a pet, you can still help animals in need. There is no cost to view (other than being a cable customer) and you can watch the videos as many times as you like. So grab your snorty couch potato partner and start surfing!

Take Your Frenchie to Work Day – June 25

Haul out the comfy office chair and get the travel crate ready. Guess who is going to work with you Friday? As you can see from the photo, Cocoa is already working on her “To Do” list for tomorrow. Poor thing. She’s already looks worn out!

What's on your list Cocoa?

Technically it’s Take Your Dog to Work Day, but we’ll take the leap of faith you are a French Bulldog person and are planning to take a Frenchie or two.

This auspicious day started back in 1999 by Pet Sitters International and grows in popularity every year. You’ll need to make sure your pup has the proper office etiquette and manners to keep that going. Below are some links to help you, and Fido, along.

There’s an app for that

iPhone toting, Frenchie-owned folks probably know this, but for .99¢ you can download a French Bulldog app called Cute French Bulldogs for your iPhone. What does it do? It’s a collection of French Bulldog photos to use as wallpaper, links to French Bulldog YouTube videos, and promises the latest Frenchie celebrity gossip and news delivered to your phone. They even offer a contest for your personal photos to win the chance to be the latest wallpaper image. Fancy that. People walking around with the image of your French Bulldog.

What else pulls up in an app search? There is French Bulldog Slide Puzzle. A puzzle with the goal to slide the photo pieces back into place to complete the image of the Frenchie.

Don’t miss the French Bulldog Snow Globe app. Virtual snow drifts over the image of a French Bulldog. (Probably best enjoyed with a cup of hot chocolate.)

A search for other phone apps, isn’t as fruitful. No Blackberry apps. No Droid apps. Searches for both phones only found apps concentrated on teaching French, or dealing with organized sports, but not showcasing our beloved canine. Not even Frenchie-based themes exist. (Hint, hint app developers!) At least Droid owners can console themselves with a game of Super Froggy.

Of course one of the most important French Bulldog apps can be found at the sites below. An application to be owned by one!
